Have a magnet link that Safari will not open?

A magnet link is a reference for a torrent client, not a web page. Tapping one on an iPhone may produce an unsupported-address message if no suitable app handles the link. That does not automatically mean the reference is broken.

With a cloud tool, you can copy the reference and submit it inside the website instead. Use this only for files you are authorised to download.

Copy the link rather than trying to launch it

On the publisher's page, touch and hold the magnet link and choose the browser's copy-link action. The precise label varies by browser and iOS version. If the publisher displays the reference as text, copy it completely.

Avoid copying the address of the surrounding web page. A magnet reference normally starts with magnet:?, while a project page generally starts with https://. Neither format alone proves the source is trustworthy.

Paste it into your cloud account

Open iPhoneTorrent in Safari or Chrome, sign in and paste the reference in the source field. Review the details shown by the service and check that the expected files fit within your storage allowance.

Your phone sends a request to the service. The service then handles the torrent transfer. You are not installing a magnet handler into iOS or changing Safari's system-level behaviour.

Let metadata resolve

A magnet link can identify a torrent before the service has its full file list. Metadata retrieval may take time and may fail if peers are unreachable. A file name embedded in a link is not verification of what the file really contains.

If nothing appears, check whether the full reference was copied. A valid link can still have no usable seeders. Do not try random content indexes to replace it. Return to the original publisher for a permitted alternative, such as its direct HTTP(S) download.

Protect private tracker links

Some references include account-specific tracker details or passkeys. Do not put them in public screenshots, support messages or shareable notes. Paid plans support private trackers, but each tracker can have its own restrictions on cloud services.

Common questions

Can I put a magnet link straight into Files?

Files stores files and folders. A magnet reference still needs a torrent client or cloud service to retrieve the underlying content.

Is an info hash the same as a magnet link?

An info hash identifies torrent metadata. A magnet link wraps identifying information in a URI and may add details such as trackers or a display name. The service accepts both input types.

Will the cloud method make an invalid link work?

No. It changes where processing happens. Missing peers, malformed references and unavailable content remain real limits.
